Marvin Ellison is President and Chief Executive Officer of Lowe’s since July 2, 2018. Mr. Ellison was Chairman of the Board of J. C. Penney Co. Inc. from August 2016 to May 2018 and was its Chief Executive Officer from August 2015 to May 2018. He was a Director of J. C. Penney Corporation, Inc. and J. C. Penney Co. Inc. from 2014 to June 01, 2018. He served as President and CEO-Designee of J. C. Penney from November 2014 to July 2015. Prior to joining J. C. Penney Company, Inc., he served as Executive Vice President - U.S. Stores of The Home Depot, Inc. (home improvement supplies retailer) from August 2008 to October 2014. His prior roles with The Home Depot, Inc. included President - Northern Division from June 2002 to August 2008, Senior Vice President - Global Logistics from 2005 to 2006, Vice President - Logistics from 2004 to 2005, and Vice President - Loss Prevention from 2002 to 2004. Mr. Ellison began his career with Target Corporation (retailer) where he served in a variety of operational roles. Mr. Ellison spent 15 years at Target Corporation in a variety of operational roles. He has gained marketing expertise through his executive experience at The Home Depot and J. C. Penney. He has significant executive leadership experience gained from executive positions held at The Home Depot and J. C. Penney. Mr. Ellison is a Director of the Retail Industry Leaders Association and the National Retail Federation and served as Director of H&R Block, Inc. from 2011 to 2014. He served as a Director of J. C. Penney Company, Inc. Mr. Ellison earned Business Administration degree in Marketing from the University of Memphis and Master of Business Administration from Emory University.
